Hello World: Why I Built This Site
First post! A look at why I decided to build a personal website from scratch with Astro, and what I learned along the way.
Why build a personal site?
Every developer reaches a point where they want their own corner of the internet — a place that feels like them, not just another template.
I wanted something that:
- Ships minimal JavaScript
- Feels alive and playful
- Actually represents who I am
The tech choices
I went with Astro because it ships zero JS by default and has the best content story in the game. Add in Tailwind CSS v4 for styling and a handful of vanilla JS animations, and we’ve got ourselves a site that feels premium without the bloat.

I’ll be writing about things I’m building, problems I’m solving, and the occasional hot take on web development. Stay tuned.
